The Senior Experience

Inquiry → Booking

When you fill out my inquiry form, you’re starting a conversation with me, and I really want to hear what you’re dreaming up.

I’ll get back in touch with you within 1–2 business days. No pressure. No pushy sales energy. Just clarity and connection from the very beginning.

Planning → Details

Once you’re officially booked, , we’ll thoughtfully plan your session. I’ll support you with:

  • What to wear

  • Location ideas that fit you

  • Timing for the best light

  • How to prepare so you feel confident

Session Day → Relaxed

Seniors do not need to know how to pose. They do not need to be “good at photos.” They do not need to perform.

When session day arrives, my job is to create an environment where they can settle in and be themselves. Expect movement, laughter, and a few quiet, in-between moments you didn’t even realize were beautiful.

Delivery → Reveal

After your session, I carefully curate and edit your images with you in mind. Then you’ll receive your gallery, and you’ll be able to:

  • Choose your favorite images

  • Download your digital files

  • Purchase sustainable print products

Meet Liz

As a Kansas City senior photographer, I care less about perfection and more about story. Because parents, you know this season is fleeting. And seniors? You deserve photos that actually feel like you. Whether we’re wandering the West Bottoms, chasing golden light and summer flowers, or finding something unexpected in a record store, I’m always looking for light that feels honest and movement that feels natural. I’ll guide every step of the way, while still leaving space for real personality to shine through.

I don’t like stiff poses or cookie-cutter senior sessions. I embrace the in-between moments. The wind in their hair. The laugh they didn’t mean to let out. The version of your senior that exists right now — on the edge of everything.

Magic happens when we collaborate. Seniors, bring me your “this might be weird but…” ideas. (They’re my favorite). Parents, trust that I’ll balance creativity with images you’ll be proud to hang on your walls: the bookstore, the dusty back road, the rooftop overlooking downtown, the flower field at blue hour. I’m drawn to the places that mean something and that feel a little bit like an adventure. So let’s get started!

“Liz was so kind and helpful with getting the best smiles and looks for my daughter! She had a blast at her photo shoot in Loose Park with Liz. I highly recommend this photographer!! Thanks Liz, we love the senior pictures and the whole experience!”

— Suzann McGruder, parent

Seniors on the Blog

  • With a little bit of preparation and some guidance, your senior photoshoot can go off without a hitch.

  • I like boys to wear clothing that allows them to move freely, be comfortable, and reflect who they are as an individual. But I go into way more detail in this blog post.

  • It’s senior portrait styling made simple. Find the best outfits, makeup tips, and hair inspiration for your senior picture photo session.

  • Are you tired of senior portraits set against tree lines and wildflowers? Are you looking for a location with explosive color and Instagram appeal?

    Try Art Alley.

  • With its colossal columns, majestic staircase, and sculptures that highlight a charming landscape, Kansas City's Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art is one of the most sought-after portrait locations in the metro.

  • Call us what you want, bookworm, bibliophile, or book lover, but we prefer the perfume of pages over anything else.
