We drove to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park this month as part of the kids' Spring Break. Usually, I'd pack my digital camera and keep it close by to capture our shenanigans.
But, since re-learning film photography, I bought several rolls of color and black-and-white film and used them to document our journey.
We stayed in Nashville on our way to Wears Valley, enjoyed an afternoon of music and food, and spent the evening watching the Final Four at a local bar and grill.
Once we arrived at the Smoky's, we settled in at the rental mountain cabin and prepared for a nature-and-hike-filled vacation. We had unrealistic expectations on how much hiking we'd get done, but we did venture out on the Alum Cave Bluffs, Appalachian, and Cucumber trails.
We drove through Cades Cove, an 11-mile road through a vast valley where the park's wildlife congregates. We saw deer, wild turkeys, and even a black bear!
We rode horses and mountain coasters, played in the rivers, picnicked, and enjoyed evenings in the cabin's hot tub.
Have you traveled to the Smoky's? What did you think?
