Chants of ‘Shame’ Erupt Outside Missouri Congressman’s Town Hall

Protestors outside Memorial Station awaiting the arrival of U.S. Rep. Mark Alford in Belton, Mo.

BELTON, Mo. — U.S. Rep. Mark Alford, R-Mo., held a town hall meeting at 6:30 p.m. on June 16 at Memorial Station in Belton. Alford represents Missouri’s 4th Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives.

The event, hosted by KCUR 89.3, Kansas City’s NPR affiliate, drew dozens of protestors expressing frustration over Alford’s support for President Donald Trump’s agenda.

Chanting “Shame! Shame! Shame!” protestors approached the venue but were stopped at a sidewalk blocked by caution tape and police officers stationed outside.

The town hall was a reservation-only event, and protestors were not permitted inside.
