Bewitching Waters
FAMILY PHOTOGRAPHY SESSION | PARKVILLE, MO
No matter the season, I feel the pull of the river. It’s an instinctual force, and I know that whatever is behind it has deep roots — ancestral roots that have forged, fished and floated — whose livelihoods depended on its bounty.
Now, I mostly visit the river to recreate, but that doesn’t stop me from daydreaming about the stories that each one would tell if its babbling and rushing were the voices from its past.
Would it tell us fables of battles and romance, of beautiful abundance or struggles for survival?
This creek now has one more story to add to its noisy waters — the tale of four little boys with toes that eagerly reached for its cool embrace and the mother who loved them fiercely.
“Eventually, all things merge into one, and a river runs through it. The river was cut by the world’s great flood and runs over rocks from the basement of time. On some of the rocks are timeless raindrops. Under the rocks are the words, and some of the words are theirs.
I am haunted by waters.”
