Wardrobe Colors for Your Skin Tone

SELECT THE BEST COLOR CLOTHES FOR YOUR SKIN TONE

Whether your skin is extremely pale, very dark complected or somewhere in between, each one of us has certain undertones and overtones to our skin that help make up our coloring.

It’s important because the colors we choose to wear can have a huge impact on our skin tones – pick the right one, we can glow; but grab the wrong one, and suddenly we’re a washed-out mess.

And we don’t want the latter ever, and especially not during a photoshoot.

Luckily for you, someone way better versed in color and style has already penned a damn near perfect explanation. Missy Titus of Simplified Wardrobe wrote a how-to guide to help you determine your undertones, depth (or overtones), chroma, and contrast so that you could pick the perfect colors for your skin tone. Her explanation and visuals are top-notch. I also highly recommend you download her “Your Complete Guide to Color” PDF because for those of you who are like me and don’t quite fit into the broad categories, she goes into greater detail. (I’d link it here, but that’s not exactly ethical, so scroll to the bottom of her article, and you can find it there.)

FYI: I’m not her affiliate or anything, I just thought it was really good content and wanted to share it with my clients.

For those of you who want to read more about perfecting styling and color for your photography session (and in life), head over to one of my older blogs: Styling Yourself With Color in Mind.
