Wellness Apps I Love

Wellness Apps That Help Me Take Care of Myself (and My Family)

Let’s be honest: taking care of ourselves is hard. Add in a job, a family, meal prep, and a never-ending to-do list, and suddenly “wellness” starts to feel like just another thing to juggle.

I needed tools to make things easier, not more complicated, and to meet me where I am—somewhere between wanting to nourish myself and also maybe just wanting five minutes of peace with my chai tea in the morning. Two apps in particular have become part of my daily routine: Intent, for meal planning, and We Crush, for health and fitness. No, I'm not an affiliate, but I wanted to share both with you because they've had an impact on my life. Together, they’ve helped me build habits that feel realistic, sustainable, and—honestly—empowering.

Intent: Meal Planning for Real Life (Not Pinterest Life)

I discovered Intent at a time when I was exhausted from decision fatigue. My husband had created a massive list of our favorite meals for us to select from when the dreaded question, "What do you want to eat for dinner this week?" would pop up before every grocery shopping trip. However, even that wasn't enough. I wanted healthy, easy food that I could make for my family in under 30 minutes every night.

And I wanted it to create a grocery list.

Intent to the rescue.

At its core, Intent is a meal planning app that lets you create menus based on your family’s nutrition goals, including specific macros. You can choose from several types of diets (low-carb, gluten-free, high-protein, plant-based, etc.), and input dietary restrictions or allergies. Then the app builds out an entire week’s worth of meals that make sense for your household.

And this isn’t just a random collection of recipes. These meals are tailored. They hit macro targets, and they taste good. (That part matters. No one wants to eat sad food.)

Here’s what I love most: Intent gives you a detailed grocery list, organized by store section—produce, pantry, meat, etc. And if you’re juggling a busy week (who isn’t?), you can send that list straight to Instacart, Walmart, Kroger, Whole Foods, or Amazon Fresh with just a few taps.

I usually sit down on Sundays, look at our schedule for the week, and plan meals around the nights that are more hectic. Intent makes it so easy to swap recipes, adjust servings, and make sure everyone’s fed without me having to do mental gymnastics every night.

This app doesn’t just help me eat better—it helps me feel better. Less stress. Fewer last-minute takeout runs. More energy. And honestly, a little more joy in the kitchen.

WeRise: Strength, Sweat, and Showing Up for Yourself

I've always loved sports and fitness. I love how I feel afterward. I love the strength it gives me. And as an (aging) adult, it's even more important.

That’s where the WeRise app, created by Senada Greca, comes in. It’s not just a workout app—it’s a strength training, mindset-building, sweat-inducing game-changer.

WeRise offers a variety of workouts, all thoughtfully designed and clearly demonstrated by Senada herself via videos in the app, showcasing proper form. You can choose from programs tailored to your goals and fitness level, ranging from beginner to advanced, and every move includes modifications. Whether you’re working out at home with minimal equipment or hitting the gym, there’s something here for you.

And the best part? There’s a nutrition component, too. Just like Intent, the WeRise app provides meal suggestions tailored to fitness goals. If I ever need a high-protein snack idea, the app provides options that align with how I’m moving my body that day.

I open WeRise in the morning, go to my program (I'm currently doing one of the Upper Body programs), put my headphones in, and lift weights. I just follow along, sweat it out, and start my day knowing I already did something good for myself.

How These Two Apps Work Together in My Life

Here’s the thing: there’s no “one-size-fits-all” when it comes to wellness. But when my meals and my movement are aligned, everything else feels a little less chaotic. These apps don’t fight for my attention—they support each other.

  • Intent helps me nourish my body with the right foods.

  • WeRise helps me move my body with intention and strength.

And both help me care for myself in a way that doesn’t feel overwhelming or complicated. They’ve become part of my routine, just like brushing my teeth. They don’t demand perfection—they just offer a better way to show up.

If you’re looking for a way to simplify your routines, nourish your body, and maybe even enjoy the process a little more, these apps are a great place to start.

Because wellness doesn’t have to be perfect. It just has to be possible.
