Portrait Photography in Kansas City
KC PORTRAIT PHOTOGRAPHER | AT THE RIVER
The evening before this session, rain fell over Kansas City in sheets, and our pond quickly outgrew itself and started spilling over the dam. Our tiny creek swelled to five times its size, and our makeshift dock floated from the pond, down the creek, and got twisted up and broke.
As I watched it pour, my hopes for a tranquil river for this portrait photography session disappeared. It was swirly, muddy and rushing much faster than its usual languid pace. The river had swallowed the shoreline, so we crossed knee-dip water just to get to the normal bank.
But if you embrace it, something magical happens when things don’t go according to plan.
